Payment methods

Pay monthly or quarterly by fixed amount Direct Debit, Cash/Cheque or Direct Debit whole amount.

Paying by Direct Debit is cheaper because the unit rate is lower compared to paying by cash, cheque or prepayment.

End of tariff

We will notify you between 42 to 49 days in advance of your tariff End Date. You’ll be able to change supplier or choose a new tariff from our other available tariffs at that time. If by 31 July 2016 you haven’t either chosen a new tariff with us or notified us that you will be leaving, then you’ll automatically be transferred to our cheapest evergreen tariff available at that time for your meter type and payment method.

Terms and conditions

By switching to Blue+Price Promise July 2016 you are agreeing to our Blue+Price Promise July 2016 full fariff rules. You can access these online at any time, or request a paper copy by contacting us free on 0800 096 9000*. We won't make changes to your T&C's which are to your significant disadvantage without letting you know in advance and giving you the chance to end your contract and change supplier.

Whilst we have tried to summarise above the terms that we believe might reasonably be of most significant impact, all the terms within our full tariff rules are important and we appreciate that different customers may have different views as to what is of most significance to them. For this reason it is important that you read these terms and if you have any questions regarding them please let us know so we can clarify these accordingly.

Price Alerts

With Blue+Price Promise July 2016, your price alert notifications will be emailed and your account will be set to receive all communications electronically. You can change your preferences at any time to receive communications by post, but if you do, you will no longer receive price alert notifications.

Listening to you

As part of your T&Cs we promise to let you know if you could save at least £1 a week elsewhere at typical use‡‡. However, we are always listening to you and as a response to customer feedback if you would rather not hear about cheaper tariffs, you can now opt out of price alert notification.

Tariff Comparison Rate (TCR)

You can use the Tariff Comparison Rate (TCR) to compare the cost of your tariff and fuel type with the cost of other available tariffs across suppliers on a like-for-like basis. It is similar to the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) used in savings, credit and loan agreements. The TCR isn't an actual price. Instead it's based on typical consumption, which is 3,200kWh/year for electricity and 13,500kWh/year for gas. The amount you're charged will vary depending on how much energy you use. Estimated bill is based on the relevant regional prices and selected payment type for customers at typical consumption, which is currently defined by Ofgem as 3,200kWh for Standard meter electricity and 13,500 kWh for Standard meter gas, and as 4,600 kWh of electricity for Economy 7 customers. The quarterly bill is calculated by dividing the annual bill by four and the monthly bill is calculated by dividing the annual bill by twelve.

†† Low-carbon electricity purchased for Blue is supplied into the National Grid. Blue customers receive electricity via the National Grid, not directly from low-carbon generators. 

‡‡ Our Price Promise means we’ll let you know if another tariff has a projected annual bill of £52 or more cheaper at typical use, which we treat as being £1 per week or more cheaper. We include Direct Debit and dual fuel discounts we know of, not other benefits.  Ofgem typical use figures from 1 January 2014 will be 3,200kWh electricity, 13,500kWh gas or 4,600kWh of electricity  for Economy 7 customers.
